The Hope House Detroit - Carstens Connection
|
As an intern at Hope House Detroit (HHD), I was able to write a grant that allowed college students to go to Carstens Elementary School to completely renovate a classroom. I later became the assistant director at HHD, leading interns in the development of mentorship programs. I was given the task of managing the day-to-day operations of the HHD organization.

We Won the Flint Culinary Cook-Off!!!!
|
I was given the opportunity to create a team for the 2017 Culinary Cook-Off of Flint. Our team placed first in the city of Flint and brought home the grand prize. Each student was awarded more than $300 in cooking supplies and gifts. The student got first place because of their signature Root Beer Chicken. I am so proud of our Sizzlin' Blue Jags.
Several of our students where also given the opportunity to make connections with local soul food catering companies. |
New National Honor SocietyI was able to establish a Northwestern High School chapter of the National Honors Society. This year Northwestern's NHS was awarded several washers and dryers to create a in-school laundromats. In-school laundromats have been known increase school attendance by 15% on average (American Educational Research Journal).

Clinical Mental Health Experience
As a mental health professional, I have had the opportunity to work with outpatient clients between the ages of 6 to 55 years. I have delivered mental health services to individuals suffering from relationship dilemmas, homicidal and suicidal ideations, and school difficulties. I have also had the opportunity to utilize Dr. Sheri Pickover's "Emotional Skill Building Curriculum" with clients who desire anger management coping techniques.
Within the past three years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work as a graduate research assistant, sit before CACREPs’ national accreditation board as a representative of my university, and work alongside some of the best mental health clinicians in Michigan. |
